Debbie Downer

So, during the shameless promotion of my business, I sent out an email to everyone in my address book to tell them about the blog. What do I get back from my brother, you ask? “Nice. Good luck keeping it up.” I know, right?!? I couldn’t let that go unanswered. My smarty-pants response was something to the effect of “Nicely done, Debbie Downer! I have a lot of faith in you, too!” (We have a similar sense of humor so I knew my comment would be taken in the spirit in which it was delivered!) We engaged in a bit of witty repartee because he is smart and funny like me as well! ;) But the moral of the story is: Don’t be a Debbie Downer! (Unless it’s your sister and you know you can get away with it!)

Lent

I realize that 8:00 on Friday night may be a little late to mention that we are an extremely Lenten-friendly restaurant. We have a vegetarian soup offered every Friday and we offer 4 fantastic meatless subs. Sorry, that all sounded very sales-pitch-like. I’ll stop now.
In other news, the answer to this week’s trivia question, “Which was the first state to give women the right to vote?” is Wyoming. Terry Davis was the winner of the brown bag special we offered up as booty. Thank you so much to all of our correct answer givers! Next week’s question: How many ridges on the outside edge of the US dime? Prize: One pound of ham. We look forward to many correct answers to draw from!

The Dirty Rancher

We tried a new sandwich today! WOW!!! I want to call it a Dirty Rancher and Lance doesn’t think I should, for obvious reasons. But anyway, I digress….Here’s what it is-we take our Rancher sub, which is BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, bacon, chicken, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and cheddar all toasty. Then, here’s the biggie….we add tangy coleslaw! That’s right, I said coleslaw. (Now you understand the “dirty”, it’s JUST a bit messy! In fact, take a fork.) Definitely an experience, but maybe just get a half because it’s filling!
Don’t forget the trivia question for this week-there’s a brown bag special on the line here! Name the first state to give women the right to vote.

Someday I’ll be smart

So it’s been a while since the last post because I couldn’t remember my user name and password to get in here. I know-smart, right? Well, here I am and there’s a lot to talk about! I bet you are giddy with anticipation!

So Kris at UBake and I were on the news tonight! Channel 19 has helped us along in our efforts to save the shopping carts. It was moving. How much longer until the Emmys?

We started a weekly trivia contest at the Cheese Corner! Yea, right? But here is the best part-I’m going to post the trivia question in the blog over the weekend so that you can research your answer before you come in! It’s the most awesome trivia game ever! Then we will draw a winner from all of the correct answers. Prizes will change from week to week and you, my dedicated blog readers, will always get the answer from one week in the same blog with the question for the next week. (Are you confused yet? Explanations are not my forte!) This week’s question: Name the first state to give women the right to vote. This week’s prize: Free Brown Bag Special

Last little tidbit for now…there will also be “Bloggers only” coupons. Occasionally, I will post a coupon only on the blog. Just print it and bring it in to redeem it. (I gotta give you a reason to keep coming back to read this drivel!) But there won’t be one today. Sorry, I’m a little worn out from my TV fame.

Blog Frequency

So my good friend Kris from UBake told me that I’m supposed to blog everyday. Like I told everyone before, this is new to me so thanks for growing with me!
Kris and I went to the Quillins parking lot this morning to help out with the Shopping Cart Tri-athalon. Skradie and Gunnor from the morning sickness at 95.7 the Rock were competing to honor National Return a Shopping Cart month. It was high-larious! Skradie had a little trouble navigating his cart from inside of it since he was also trying to talk on the phone and push himself with a 2×4. He made a lot of progress if circles count! It was a phenomenal display of athletic prowess by both contestants!

Etch-a-sketch artists

I would like to take this opportunity to pay homage to all of our amazing etch-a-sketch artists out there. We have some mini etch-a-sketchs at the La Crosse store and there is someone, or several someones, out there that have mad etch-a-sketch skills! One day there was a dragon, one day it was a bird, and, today, there is an awesome swimming pool complete with diving board, ladder and a little person! We are all in awe! Really, awe!
