School Programs

As is the norm for those of us with young kids, life is kind of hectic, right? But can you resist the school programs?!? Our daughters go to Southern Bluffs and the music teacher there is phenomenal! She is packed full of energy and the kids absolutely love her so the concerts are adorable! The kids are so excited! And they actually like it so much that they do ALL really learn the words. They dance, they smile, they pay attention, they LOVE IT! (I, however, am a big sap and I sit there with a camera and tears in my eyes getting picked on by my husband…what am I going to do when they graduate or get married or have their own kids???)

I remember hating concerts and those kinds of things when I was a kid. Was it just me that stood there wishing the person in front of me was too tall to see around? I’m pretty sure that not even the kid standing next to me could hear me sing, a blessing for all involved, and I surely never opened my mouth enough for someone to get the impression that I was enjoying myself. Don’t even get me started on piano recitals! Do you know how hard it is to not get noticed when you are the only one playing? HATED IT! But, like Mom always said, “It’s good for your moral fiber!”

Our great buns….

Here’s where I apologize for hyping our great buns and not delivering. They were extremely popular and disappeared from the shelves in record time! So I promise that there will be twice as many this week! Delivery is Tuesday morning so you can get your fix after that. I’m so sorry! (But on the positive side, it’s really great that there are so many of you that read all of the garbage I send to you! You’re making me feel special!!! :) )

Next week’s trivia

So I’m throwing it out there a little bit early this time but here is next week’s trivia question:
What is Bucky Badger’s full name?
Prize: 1/2# Chipolte Black Bean and Cheddar Dip
This one is for all the sports fans that have been giving me a hard time about needing sports questions. I thought that the professional kite flying question was a sports question but Ron informed me otherwise. :)

FREE KITES!

Guess what?!? April is National Kite Month! I’m sure you are just as excited about this as you were about National Return a Shopping Cart Month-well, you’re welcome! But the really nifty part of this incredibly well known “holiday” is that we are giving away free kites! Any child 10 or under that comes in to either store in the month of April will get a free kite with their grown-up’s $5 minimum purchase. (Please don’t grab random children and bring them to our stores-remember this is not like the shopping cart thing!)

Have a great day—I hear we’re supposed to see the sun—YEAH!!!

Heavenly!

Last night I took one of the new Sun-dried Tomato Basil buns, put a little mayo on it, covered it with our phenomenal roast beef (shaved of course), and then a few slices of to-die-for havarti (also from our store). I broiled it on low, in our oven at home, open faced until the cheese started to brown, then I closed it up and toasted the top for a little bit and then the bottom. Whilst I was doing this I was warming, on the stovetop, some Au Jus from U-Bake. Then I headed to my very happy place! (I have a very special relationship with food.) This was the most wonderful French Dip experience I have ever had. I thought Lance was going to eat until he exploded! One of our daughters was in lip-smacking bliss (I had to scold her three times for trying to drink the Au Jus) but the other may have been switched at birth because she was asking for PB & J. Oh well, we love her despite her lack of taste buds.

So I just took care of the better part of your dinner menu for tonight! Hook yourself up with meat, cheese, and buns at the Cheese Corner, then pop down to U-Bake for Au Jus. And I’m sure, with very little effort, these two stores can come up with side dishes and dessert!

New Buns!!!

We got the most awesome buns today at the La Crosse store! They are a Sun-dried Tomato Basil bun and they are amazing! Tomorrow we will feature them-we suggest a Chicken Philly or a Turkey Trio built on them. I enjoyed it just by itself-with butter of course because everything is better with butter.

So tomorrow you have got to stop in to try our buns :) and you should pair it with some Stagecoach pasta salad! It’s yummy!

Recipe Contest

I have been given the honor of officiating in UBake’s first ever recipe contest! I’m not really sure of all the details but Kris has them on UBake’s website and I’m really excited! I really love food! So all of you need to give her your best recipes ‘cuz we wanna see ‘em!

PS. Don’t forget that you have to come in to one of the stores to enter the trivia contest!

This week’s trivia

You’ve been waiting in breathless anticipation-well, here it is! The question:
What city in the US consumes the most lime flavored Jello?
The prize: A free 9″ pizza of your choice.
Last week’s turn out was a little disappointing-not many correct answers to choose from! The question was “In which country is kite flying a professional sport?” and the answer was Thailand. It’s OK, that was a tough one. Hopefully this week’s amazing prize will lure more of you out to participate. ;)

Have a stellar week!

Daily Laughs

You’ve all heard that laughter is good for you, right? Well, I believe it more than most and for that reason, I am recommending one of the ways that I get a laugh everyday. I subscribe to the daily email sent out by icanhascheezburger.com. The site is goofy pictures of animals with silly captions that are spelled phonetically so they are a little hard to read. I have always been entertained by random humor but I am not alone. Kris at UBake subscribes to the dog email and I subscribe to the cat email. They are goofy and random but some of them are really funny!

Pretty Cheese Trays

Something came up this weekend that I thought I should let as many people know as possible. Hopefully you know that we make absolutely beautiful cheese trays and meat trays. (Some of them even have both!) But did you know that you can bring in your own decorative trays for us to build your cheese trays on? We normally build trays on eco-friendly cardboard pizza circles-inexpensive and easy to dispose of for convenience and value. If you bring in your beautiful cut glass or silver tray, we’ll build your tray directly on that. So, I have a very special appointment tomorrow morning with some fresh deli meats and cheeses and some lovely trays that will grace the table of a 50th birthday celebration somewhere in La Crosse.

There’s not much that we won’t do (within reason) so never hesitate to ask!
