Health and Wellness Fair
March 4, 2009 by tina.
Today was the Health and Wellness Fair at Shopko. Kris @ UBake and I were generously invited to set up there, along with Dr. Jerry Johnson, DC, the South Side Community Center, and a few other organizations. Kris and I set up with some sugar-free treats from UBake and a tray of sandwiches from our 500 Club menu. (We had a lot of other stuff, too, but I was saving you the boredom!) It occurred to me that there are probably a lot of people that don’t know that we have an entire menu of yummy meals all under 500 calories and 30% fat. Of course, we have to boycott the mayo for these requirements and even though our full-monty sandwiches are extremely healthy, we use extra heavy duty mayo. (Nothing but the best, right?) I know, it breaks my heart too but we have some wonderful flavors added by honey mustard or fat free dressings. Anyway, just thought I would let you know.

Misleading
March 4, 2009 by tina.
I should clarify the “Cheese, glorious cheese” post. The Cheese Corner carries spectacular cheese! We have a wonderful variety, almost all of which are Wisconsin cheeses. And they are all fresh and sliced to order and I LOVE (almost) all of them. What I purchased at Trader Joe’s was off the wall cheeses. One was a German version of brie that is out of this world. One was Huntsman cheese, a combo of double gloucester and stilton that looks like a layer cake and comes from England. One was a triple creme brie that really didn’t light my fire with it’s virtual absence of taste….and so on and so forth. These are all what I refer to as “Exotics.” Some are imported, some are just different and some are outrageously expensive but Oh-so-tasty! I didn’t buy muenster and colby there!
I just didn’t want it to sound like the only place to get good cheese was at Trader Joe’s. What a way to promote our own stores on our own blog!!!

Cheese, glorious cheese!
March 4, 2009 by tina.
I’m really excited about some purchases we made this weekend at Trader Joe’s! (Love the Trader Joe’s!!!) I own a couple of cheese stores, right? But I get so excited to go into really fun cheese departments in bigger cities/stores! I don’t really have the ability to sell some of the really funky cheeses because I don’t go through enough volume before it starts to mold on me and that’s just not cool. (Yes, I know that some cheese is supposed to have mold!) But until our stores move more cheese, I have to get my exotic cheese fix at awesome places like Trader Joe’s. (The nearest ones are in Madison and the Cities. If you’ve never heard of one it would be best if you just checked out their website because there should be a limit to this blog entry!) If you have witnessed all that is spectacular in the Trader Joe’s, share the love of the cheese cooler with me for a minute! I left there with a very modest selection of 5 different varieties. SO FUN!!! Tonight we had a little cheese course with our dinner-the fam isn’t as over the top with my goodies as I am. Oh well, there’s no accounting for taste!
