Kid update
July 29, 2009 by tina.
You probably don’t really care what’s going on with my kids but I’m going to list the latest cuz I really like them. Emma pulled out her first molar yesterday. (Yuck) She’s got two days left of her last summer school class and then we get to have her all to ourselves for all of August! Andrea plays in the championship game for YEA softball today and she’s super pumped! One more yoga class and she will be class free as well. We are ALL excited for August! Not only are there no classes but we have a Griswold-esque road trip planned and we can’t wait! We’re doing the west circuit-Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa then home. We will be hitting the corn palace, the badlands, Wall Drug, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devil’s Tower, the Black Hills, Deadwood City, Yellowstone NP, Grand Teton NP, white water rafting in Jackson Hole, several hotel pools and, most importantly, several restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!
If you can’t tell by my lengthy description, WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!

Hiring
July 28, 2009 by tina.
I’m headed to Viroqua this afternoon to do some interviewing. I may be crazy, but I enjoy interviews. Of course, I probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much from the other side of the table. But it’s fun to get a little piece of someone’s personality. In fact, if they don’t give up a little piece of their personality in the interview, I don’t hire them. We are a social store and we want everyone to be themselves. So if you know someone in the Viroqua area that would be a good fit and is looking for work, send them my way!

Monday Morning
July 27, 2009 by tina.
I personally love Monday mornings. I know that sounds crazy but, as a person who judges their day by how much they accomplish, what could be better than the activity of a Monday morning? You get to lay out the week, get a list together, start scratching things off, etc., etc., etc. (Believe me, I know how much of a freak I am!)
Could you imagine if I were able to hep myself up on caffeine? My family would have to run and hide!

Trivia courtesy of Joe Pfaff
July 26, 2009 by tina.
Here is this week’s trivia question. (Thanks, Joe!) In what Wisconsin city is it illegal to wake a sleeping fire fighter? I haven’t decided what the prize will be this week so you’ll just have to stop in to find out!
Have a great Sunday afternoon!

Pool days
July 22, 2009 by tina.
My girls wanted me to take them to the pool today. So we went down to city hall and got ourselves a punch card and off we went. Now, being a “country” kid, I didn’t spend all day everyday at the city pool like my husband did over the summer. He became a fish at a very early age even though he never had even one swimming lesson. He started each school year browned and water logged. I, however, took swimming lessons from several of the Lee siblings and never got to be that comfortable in the water. I can swim but I still REALLY hate water up my nose. Fortunately, our children have the best of both worlds. We force them into swimming lessons, that they really do like, and we spend a lot of time at bodies of water so they are very comfortable-in the river, the city pool and any hotel pool they can get their feet in. Today my young fishes swam across and back to prove they were worthy of the diving board and I sat on the grass and beamed like the proud parent I was. Yet another thing my kids have accomplished with little to no help from me! Isn’t it awesome, a little sad, but still awesome when they don’t really need you but still like to have you there?

Organization
July 21, 2009 by tina.
I have a few words to say about organization: LOVE IT!!! I just read a book called “Getting Things Done” by David Allen and it totally rocked. I was mildly organized before, got a ton of stuff done, but always felt a little overwhelmed by the amount of stuff still out there to do. Plus, I was always worried that I would forget something or there was something I should be doing right now so that I didn’t have to rush later. Well this dude’s system is AMAZING! I think the best part is feeling like you are on top of things. My tiny brain can relax and stop thinking of all the things I need to do because they are all written down and entered into the system so they will get done when they need to get done.
I could go on and on…and I usually do, but there’s things to get done! ![]()

Camping continued…
July 18, 2009 by tina.
So Lance put the tent up in the back yard. My main firefighter stoked up the fire pit and we toasted marshmallows and ate smores. Then we got to cozy up in the tent and play Uno and Go-Fish in the insufficient lighting. We read a little Harry Potter and tucked in for the night. The only problem we had was that someone turned off the heat this July and it got down right frigid out there. When the train went by at 4AM and woke me up, I boogied into the house for a potty break and another stack of blankets.
It was really fun and the girls enjoyed it. We’ll keep working on scheduling a real beach camping date. There’s still a lot of summer left!
